Afghan man in court accused of murdering man in triple stabbing

Greener EalingA man has appeared in court accused of murder following a triple stabbing in west London.
At the hearing at Westminster Magistrates’ Court, it was stated that Safi Dawood was charged with the murder of Wayne Broadhurst, as well as the attempted murder of 45-year-old Shahzad Farrukh and a 14-year-old boy, in connection with the incident at Midhurst Gardens in Uxbridge on Monday.
The 22-year-old, who lives on the same street, was also charged with one count of possessing an offensive weapon following the incident, the court heard on Thursday.
Mr Dawood has been remanded in custody and will appear at the Old Bailey within the next 48 hours.
Officers and paramedics were called to reports of a triple stabbing at around 17:00 GMT.
The court heard Mr Broadhurst, who was attacked while walking his dog, died at the scene with multiple stab wounds including to his neck, chest and side.
The 14-year-old boy and Mr Farrukh were also treated for stab wounds.
Prosecutor Theo Woodhead told the court that Mr Farrukh remained in hospital with life-changing injuries and that the teenager with a hand injury had been discharged.
The Home Office previously confirmed that Mr Dawood entered the UK in a lorry in 2020 and that his asylum claim was accepted in 2022.
‘A devastating loss’
Katarina Pohancenikova, managing director of Greener Ealing Ltd, confirmed on Wednesday that Mr Broadhurst was a sweeper for the council-owned firm but was not on duty when he died.
“Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with Wayne’s family, friends and colleagues at this incredibly difficult time,” he said.
“This is a devastating loss. Wayne was a respected and dedicated member of our team and made real contributions to the work we do and the residents we serve.”
