6.3 Quake hits Afghan; Multiple Casualties Feared

Kabul: A powerful 6.3 magnitude earthquake shook northern Afghanistan, according to the US Geological Survey. No damage was immediately reported.
The epicenter of the earthquake was 22 km west-southwest of Khulm, Afghanistan, and had a depth of 28 km. The USGS said the plane crashed at 12:59 local time on Monday.
More than 2,200 people lost their lives in the 6.0 magnitude earthquake that occurred in eastern Afghanistan, near the Pakistan border, on August 31, 2025. According to the Taliban government, powerful aftershocks of magnitude 6.3 on October 7, 2023 killed at least 4,000 people.
