Amoebic meningoencephalitis case confirmed in Kochi

One case of amoebic meningoencephalitis was confirmed in Kochi. The patient, a Lakshadweep native working in Edappally, is currently undergoing treatment in a private hospital. According to the statement of health officials, the patient’s condition is stable.
As many as 153 cases of amoebic meningoencephalitis have been reported in Kerala so far, according to the latest data from the Ministry of Health. A total of 33 deaths were recorded.
Two confirmed cases were reported on October 31, one in Ernakulam and the other in Kollam’s Thodiyoor. One death was also recorded in Kollam’s Palathara on the same day. The deceased was a 65-year-old man.
A total of 65 confirmed cases and 12 deaths due to amoebic meningoencephalitis were reported in the state in October.
