Asad Urges CM To Intervene in 30-Yr Lease of Prime MWD Land

Hyderabad: AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Monday urged Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to intervene after the minority welfare department leased 5,220 square meters of prime property belonging to Urdu Academy in Shaikpet to a private company for 30 years.

Asaduddin questioned the authority of minority welfare secretary B. Shafiullah to issue a GO approving the lease agreement. “The Secretary has no authority to do this. Such a decision has to be approved by the Chief Secretary after public notice is made and suggestions and objections are invited. This entire procedure has been skipped. This order should be canceled as soon as possible,” the Hyderabad MP said, tagging the Prime Minister’s personal identity on X.

The land in question lies in Survey No. 29 of Dargah Hussain Shah Wali village in Serilingampally Mandal of Rangareddy district. This has been leased to Hyderabad-based NN Infra and constructions for 30 years on BOT (Build Operate Transfer) basis for construction of Urdu-Ghar-cum-Shadikhana and commercial complex as per GO dated July 16.

According to residents of the area, the land, which has been vacant for a long time, has also attracted the attention of land sharks, who are on the lookout for occupation. Some of them had also torn down the signboard of the Urdu Academy, which was several years old. “The property is more than an acre and valued at more than 100 crore, surprisingly it is not mentioned in the GO. How will this deal benefit the Urdu Academy or Urdu?” He was curious about foundation activist Muhammad Habeebuddin.
