Lorry-RTC bus accident: Chevella CHC confirms 20 deaths, injured shifted to nearby hospitals

Chevella Community Health Center (CHC) director Rajendra Prasad said that 20 people died in a dumper truck-bus accident on Mirjaguda-Khanapur road in Chevella mandal of Telangana’s Rangareddy district in the early morning hours of Monday, November 3, 2025.
The accident took place around 7.30 am on the Vikarabad-Hyderabad route when a truck crashed into an RTC bus while trying to overtake a two-wheeler.
Prasad said six passengers with minor injuries were treated at Chevella CHC, while those with serious injuries were shifted to Patnam Mahindra Reddy Institute of Medical Sciences and Bhaskar General Hospital. “The total number of deaths is 20. We kept the bodies in our morgue for now. They will be handed over to their families after the Panchanama procedures are completed,” he said.
Ranga Reddy District Medical and Health Officer (DMHO) B Venkateswar Rao confirmed that three passengers with critical injuries were referred to Mahindra Reddy Institute of Medical Sciences, Patnam, while others suffered minor injuries or facial injuries.
Telangana Vaidya Vidhana Parishad (TVVP) Commissioner Ajaya Kumar also confirmed that the death toll was high. “There are currently nearly 20 bodies lying in the hospital. The number of injured has not yet been confirmed as the patients have been transferred to different hospitals,” he said.
Meanwhile, Telangana Health Minister C. Damodar Raja Narasimha expressed that he was deeply shocked by the tragic road accident. The Minister spoke on the phone with senior Ministry of Health officials and received information about the condition of the injured people receiving treatment at CHC Chevella. He directed that anyone requiring advanced medical care be immediately transferred to Hyderabad for treatment and instructed senior officials to proceed to hospitals without delay.
Superintendent Rakesh Sahay said Osmania General Hospital (OGH) has made all necessary arrangements to admit the victims for both emergency treatment and post-mortem procedures. Hindu. “We are ready to admit the victims for treatment and have also provided facilities at the mortuary for autopsy. All arrangements have been made,” he said.
Dr. Sahay said that according to initial information, at least four injured patients were referred to OGH, but this number may increase depending on the situation of those applying to nearby hospitals. “I have been informed that four patients will be brought in immediately and more may arrive depending on their medical needs,” he added.
He also said that additional facilities were established next to the morgue to accommodate the relatives of the deceased. “We have expanded the seating area and made some additional arrangements to handle a larger number of people. Our staff and forensic teams are ready,” he said.
