Prince Harry and Meghan issue major announcement as royals step out | Royal | News

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made the big announcement on Saturday evening, minutes after the Royal Family made a touching appearance in London to mark Remembrance Week. The King and Queen led the Royal Family at the annual British Royal Legion Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall in London, dedicated to all those who served their country and gave their lives in that service.

Charles and Camilla were joined by other members of the Firm, including the Princess of Wales, Prince George, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh and the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester. The King was spotted arriving at London’s Royal Albert Hall shortly after 7pm on Saturday evening, where the rest of the royal family was waiting.

At 19.12, a new announcement was published by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex on the Archewell website.

Harry and Meghan released a statement announcing they “support” efforts to provide meals and groceries to people in need in local communities.

The statement made by Archewell said: “At a time when families across the United States are struggling to put food on the table, Prince Harry and Meghan are supporting local communities affected by the growing hunger crisis and helping local partners provide meals and assistance to those who need it most.

“Food banks and community organizations across the country are working tirelessly to fill the gap and meet the need. At the Archewell Foundation, we believe food is more than just sustenance; it’s about dignity, stability, and care for one another.”

Harry and Meghan’s charitable foundation said it was offering immediate assistance to those in need by making “emergency donations” to local partners including the Santa Barbara County Food Bank, Our Big Kitchen LA and Project Angel Food.

The couple also urged people to donate whenever and wherever possible, stating that “caring for each other is both a collective action and a personal choice.”

“Whether through time, resources or simple gestures of compassion, each of us can help ensure no one faces hunger alone,” the statement said.

They also gave advice on how you can help, including “sharing what you can, rallying others to help, showing up to seniors, and supporting local and national organizations.”

The Archewell foundation statement concluded: “Moments like this remind us of the strength and resilience of communities and the responsibility we all share to care for one another. The Archewell Foundation will continue to support organizations that compassionately meet basic human needs, especially in times of vulnerability and uncertainty. We are inspired by our community like you, and we join you as we come together to purpose: Show up, do good.”
