A woman was arrested at the Las Vegas airport after allegedly tying her dog to a baggage measuring device at the JetBlue ticket booth and walking away, police said.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) responded to Harry Reid International Airport on February 2 after receiving reports that a dog was tied to a metal carry-on baggage measuring device and left at the airport’s JetBlue ticket counter.
The woman was arrested on charges of abandoning the animal and resisting arrest.
In the footage released by LVMPD, the woman, whose face is blurred, is seen approaching the ticket booth with her dog and walking away, leaving the dog’s leash tied to the counter.

Officers told the woman she would be fined for leaving her dog on the counter.
“I was trying to rebook my flight,” the woman told police.
“So you came here to rebook your flight?” the officer replied.
“Yes, that’s what they told me at the checkout,” he said.
“Are you going to come out here without your dog?” the officer replied.
According to LVMPD, airline staff told the dog owner that he had not completed the required online forms to travel with the animal as a service dog and was denied a boarding pass. Police said the woman then left her dog behind and headed towards the departure gate from the airport.

The woman allegedly told police that the airline would not allow her to fly with the dog and claimed that she had a tracking device on her, “insinuating that it was acceptable to leave the animal behind and that the animal would be returned to her.”
Police said the woman became “hostile” and “resisted officers’ attempts to detain her” as they escorted her through the security checkpoint.
“We can’t believe we have to say this… but please do not leave your dog at the airport or anywhere else,” LVMPD said in a social media post.
After a mandatory 10-day holding period passed without the owner returning, the nonprofit Las Vegas Retriever Rescue took custody of the 2-year-old golden doodle mini poodle mix nicknamed “Jet Blue.” The rescue will place him in a new home.

The group shared in a Facebook post this week that it has received numerous applications and inquiries from potential owners of “Jet Blue.”
“This sweet boy is incredible. Truly incredible. And after everything he’s been through, the thought of him experiencing abandonment again has us on very high alert,” the nonprofit wrote. “We will be extremely deliberate in choosing his forever family. He deserves stability. Security. Loyalty. A promise for life.”
