Unstable conditions could lead to power outages and disruption of other services to some homes and businesses, according to the Met Office. Meteorology warned that excessive rainfall could also damage buildings.

He added: “Water and flooding have caused difficult driving conditions, some road closures and the postponement or cancellation of some bus and train services.”

“There is a small chance that some communities will be cut off due to road flooding.”
