Kerala local body polls: NDA announces 42 candidates for Kannur Corporation

The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has taken an early lead in the run-up to the Kannur Corporation elections by announcing candidates for 42 out of the total 56 wards. The list was released in the presence of AP Abdullakutty, all India vice-president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

BJP Kannur North district president KK Vinod Kumar confirmed that the NDA will field candidates in all 56 wards of the Corporation and announced the names. Party leaders said the election process focused on supporting women and introducing new faces to the local political scene.

Senior leader UT Jayanthan, sitting council member VK Shyju and Ghazal singer Aparna Purushothaman are prominent in the first list of candidates. Other prominent candidates include Archana Vandichal, Shrisuma Vinod, A. Jayalatha, Jiju Vijayan and MP Ragini.
