Adam Peaty’s brother has been arrested over allegations he sent threats to the athlete during his stag weekend.
On Monday it was revealed Adam’s mother Caroline, 59, was branded a “narcissist” by her own family after she was not invited to his Christmas wedding to Holly Ramsay, 25.
But a source close to the Ramsays has since pointed out ‘wider issues’ within the Peaty family that are at the heart of the problems and said they were serious.
An insider revealed there were ‘appalling’ threats of violence against Holly and Adam, 30, and police intervened.
Sun Adam’s brother James, 34, was arrested on Monday, held at his home in Uttoxeter, Staffs, and released on bail.
Adam reportedly had to be escorted off the plane by armed police on Sunday night after receiving threats regarding his stag party.

Adam and Holly Ramsay’s feud with Ramsay’s family turned heated after allegations of threats of violence against the couple were reported.
After the plane landed at Manchester Airport, it is said to have been greeted by five uniformed police officers who were with it during immigration and baggage claim.
CCTV was also monitored by authorities for suspicious activity and Adam was escorted from the building to a waiting vehicle, authorities said.
The police presence followed fears he might be attacked, with a shaken Adam initially contacting fiancée Holly, who then alerted police.

A friend explained: ‘The problems reported are not due to hen or wedding invitations; It goes much deeper.
‘Things escalated further over the weekend when someone became increasingly abusive and threatening via text. The guy was trying to enjoy his bachelor party and was starting to freak out about it all.
‘He then received a threat that he would be met on the plane. ‘He told Holly who called the police after speaking to his family.’
The friend added that Holly’s parents, chef Gordon Ramsay and his wife Tana, are ‘100 per cent supportive’ of them.
Adam and James’ father Mark told The Sun on Thursday: ‘They are brothers. They were always close, but like any normal family, siblings fight, argue, fall out, make up and start all over again. But it got out of control.

Holly was clutching a ‘Bride’ phone case on Thursday morning for the first time since her row with fiancé Adam Peaty’s family came to light.
‘There is very little empathy for Jamie’s real mental health issues.’
But a source close to Adam and Holly said: ‘This fight is heartbreaking for both parties.
‘But the truth is that Adam feels that his mother, Caroline, is enabling his brother’s actions rather than forcing him to deal with his demons. Poor Caroline must be feeling completely devastated and it’s so hard for everyone.
Holly was photographed hiding with a ‘Bride’ phone case on Thursday in her first sighting since her feud with her fiancée’s family emerged.
The footage comes after the Peatys took to social media to claim they had been overlooked in the couple’s wedding plans because they were ‘simple people on benefits’ who did not match the Ramsays’ flamboyant appearance.
Sources close to the situation told the Daily Mail’s Katie Hind that the Ramsay team’s accusations do not reflect well on them.
An insider told the Daily Mail: ‘It doesn’t seem too depressing for Team Ramsay to come out and make accusations about a normal, ordinary family like the Peatys.’ You can read the full special report here.
Adam and Holly’s wedding will be held at Bath Abbey over Christmas, with guests including newly knighted Sir David Beckham and his fashion designer wife, who has been friends with the Ramsays for many years.
The family source said it was believed that Adam’s sister Bethany was the only person from his family to attend the wedding, and it was thought that no one else would be able to cover the hotel expenses.
Bethany was the only member of Holly’s family to attend the hen celebration at the 100-acre Soho Farmhouse in the Oxfordshire countryside.
