The 2 words all Royal Family fans will yell if Sarah Ferguson quits UK | UK | News

Until recently most Britons admitted a mild indifference towards Sarah Ferguson; Now they feel rightfully betrayed and outraged after the Epstein email scandal. Andrew, once the Duchess of York, had brushed aside his crisis until ‘that email’ twisted him a few weeks ago when he was forced to give up his title as Duke of York due to his links to the dead pedophile financier.
Let’s go back to a 2011 interview about Doctor Who’s TARDIS; The then ‘duchess’ said her relationship with Epstein was a “colossal error of judgement”. Promising to never have a relationship with Epstein again, Trump said, “I hate pedophilia and all forms of sexual abuse of children.”
He continued: “I cannot state more strongly that I know there was a terrible, terrible error of judgment in having anything to do with Jeffrey Epstein. What he did was wrong and that’s why he was rightfully imprisoned.”
This is pretty obvious. Let’s be clear, she would never have spoken to Epstein, who was jailed three years ago for soliciting prostitution from a minor.
So on that basis, Fergie was crystal clear: vile child sex pervert Epstein was persona non grata and off the Christmas card list.
But in September 2025, an email emerged claiming the duchess had emailed Epstein shortly after giving the 2011 interview, calling him a “great friend” and saying she did not use the word “pedophilia” for him.
She wrote to him: “As you know, I certainly did not say the ‘P’ word about you, but I understand that it has been reported that I did.
“I know you are sorely disappointed in me. You have always been a loyal, generous and outstanding friend to me and my family.”
A spokesperson for the 66-year-old stressed that the email was sent after Epstein threatened to sue him for defamation – in an attempt to persuade him not to do so.
“The Duchess expressed her regret over her relationship with Epstein years ago and, as always, her first thoughts were with his victims,” they said. “Like so many people, she was caught up in his lies.”
But days later, many charities dropped Fergie as their patron or ambassador as a rock, a heavy monolith at that. The only charity he is still believed to be linked to is his own foundation, Sarah’s Trust.
This isn’t his first major scandal. Sarah Ferguson had a few.
In 1992, American financier (another) John Bryan was filmed sucking her toes while sunbathing topless in St Tropez during her breakup with Andrew.
Three years later, he backed a project launched by bankrupt businessman Clive Garrard to open a nursing home bearing his name, and was forced to withdraw his support before Garrard was jailed for VAT fraud.
In 2010, she was at the center of the ‘cash for access’ scandal when she was secretly filmed by an undercover reporter offering to sell Andrew a promotional offer for £500,000. He was heard boasting: “I can open any door you want.”
The late Queen reportedly had to settle Fergie’s debts multiple times due to her lavish spending and failing businesses.
Like her equally embarrassed ex-husband Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, Fergie is leaving the Royal Lodge and will make her own living arrangements.
But in recent days, it has been claimed that he may want to step out of the UK and tap dance into the Iberian sunset next year, as he leaves the Royal Lodge for good.
Princess Beatrice and Eugenie’s mother, who has been keeping a close eye on the ‘who has the most embarrassing parents’ competition, is reportedly eyeing a guest suite at a £3.6million luxury oceanfront villa in Portugal.
It is owned by Eugenie and her businessman husband Jack Brooksbank, and could be a way to start a new life.
Now how do I think the British will react to this news? Two words: “Good riddance!”
