Davenport man sentenced after 2024 tow truck/pedestrian crash on Rockingham Road
UPDATE: A Davenport man who drove a tow truck that struck a woman and severely injured her has been sentenced to prison, according to Scott County Court records.
On Thursday, Granvell Ramey appeared in Scott County Court. According to Scott County’s sentencing decision, Ramey pleaded guilty to charges of driving with serious injury and knowingly leaving the scene of an accident resulting in serious injury. Other charges were dismissed.
He was found guilty of both charges and sentenced to five years in prison on each charge. A judge ordered Ramey to serve the charges consecutively or one after the other. “The reasons for consecutive sentences…include the circumstances of the crime, the impact of (Ramey’s) actions on the victim, and the need for specific and general deterrence,” the sentencing decision states.
He was given credit for time previously spent in connection with the case.
