In recent years, Prince Harry had annoyed his own brother and sister-in-law, his father King Charles, and his stepmother Camilla; Now she could add her aunt, Princess Anne, to the list. This week, the 41-year-old Duke of Sussex announced with great fanfare that he was “delighted” to announce that the 2029 Invictus Games will be held in Daejon, South Korea.

But just four days earlier, the Royal Family had shared news and updates about Princess Anne’s trip to the same country in mid-July. While there, the Princess Royal and Sir Tim Laurence paid tribute to fallen British soldiers at the United Nations Memorial Cemetery in Busan.

He also held a meeting with South Korean President Lee Jae Myung in Seoul to discuss trade, security and industrial cooperation.

However, some angry royal fans took to social media to accuse Harry of trying to steal the Royal Family’s headlines by making his announcement just days after Anne’s visit.

One person raged at

Others believed it was a strategic publicity move, claiming that he “never left the Royal Family or the institution”.

Prince Harry said in a statement on Monday: “As the first Asian country chosen to host the Games, the Republic of Korea represents an exciting new chapter in our journey to enable more wounded, injured and sick service personnel and veterans to benefit from the power of sport and the strength of the Invictus community.”

The timing of Harry’s announcement may have been unfortunate. But he and his social media team are pretty smart.

You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to spot the potential to jump on the South Korean news bandwagon, as we know the Royal Family is already making headlines with the Princess Royal’s trip.

This indicates some despair.

When Harry arrived in the UK earlier this month to promote the countdown to the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham, he could easily have made the announcement on his first day back in Blighty – July 7.

Princess Anne didn’t start her South Korea trip until Monday, July 13, but it can often take a day or two for images and details to emerge – so Harry wouldn’t be stealing the spotlight from her.

In fact, knowing that Princess Anne has a sassy sense of humor, she may even have said that the Invictus Games are now coming to South Korea and doing their meet and greet.

But Harry remained silent and waited until just days after Anne returned home to reveal the South Korea reveal – just as details of her trip were making headlines.

It was as if he wanted to gauge media interest in his visit to the country before going in and making his own announcement. The timing will not be lost on those within the Royal Family.

Anne reportedly always had affection for her niece, but this is said to have cooled after the publication of her autobiography Spare and her extreme criticism of Charles, William, Catherine and Camilla.

As king, he places duty above all else, residing alongside his country and his brother.

Queen Elizabeth II Elizabeth’s second child, Anne, was her brother’s spare child; But while Harry gives his brother William nothing but headaches, Anne exudes loyalty, devotion and duty.
