A warning issued before the fire was downgraded said: “If you are south of The Wool Road, east of Larmer Avenue, in the Worrowing Heights area, you are in danger. It is too late to leave now. Take shelter in a sturdy structure such as a house now.”
The RFS has previously said those in the Sanctuary Point, Old Erowal Bay and Erowal Bay area should prepare immediately.
The RFS imposed a complete fire ban across the NSW Lower Central West Plains and Central Ranges on Sunday.
A total fire ban has been declared for the Greater Hunter and North West regions on Monday due to hot and windy conditions predicted.
