Bengal Governor to lead search operation at Raj Bhavan for “arms” post TMC MP’s allegations

West Bengal Governor Ananda Bose will lead a team of security personnel that will carry out a search operation at Raj Bhavan on Monday, November 17, 2025, following allegations by a TMC MP that arms and ammunition were hoarded on its premises, an official said.

Trinamool Congress MP Kalyan Banerjee had on Saturday, November 15, 2025, accused Mr Bose of “harboring BJP criminals” inside the Raj Bhavan and “arming them with bombs and guns”.

“The entire Raj Bhavan will be searched by a joint team of Kolkata Police and central forces on Monday to find out whether there is a pile of weapons and ammunition inside. The Governor will lead the search operation,” the official said. PTI.

He said civil society members and journalists would be allowed to accompany Mr. Bose during the exercise.

The TMC MP had made the allegations on Saturday, hours after Mr. Bose said that the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls was necessary to “clean up the electoral process”.

Mr. Bose said on Sunday, November 16, 2025, that he had sought legal opinion on Mr. Banerjee’s allegations, leading the legislator to say that she was ready for a battle in court and could not be intimidated.
