370 abrogation hasn’t stopped bloodshed: J&K CM Omar Abdullah

J&K chief minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday said the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019 did not stop bloodshed in the Union Territory and those responsible for security should be held accountable. He was alluding to the administration led by lieutenant governor Manoj Sinha.

“For the last 35 years, J&K, especially Kashmir, has witnessed massive bloodshed…We were told that this would not happen after 2019. But it has not stopped,” Abdullah said.

Abdullah said, “Why didn’t he stop? We need to ask those responsible for security, because this is out of our control.” Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of an event in south Kashmir, he lamented that innocent lives are being lost every day.
“What can I say about the current situation? If the explosion does not happen in Delhi, it will happen here,” Abdullah said, referring to the Red Fort blast that killed 15 people and the accidental blast at Nowgam police station that killed nine people.

Abdullah said, “Innocent people are losing their lives. I went to five places to offer condolences yesterday, and I’m going to two more places today.” The CM said he hoped this “bloodshed must stop”.
