Bangladesh A suffered a stunning defeat in the Asia Cup Rising Stars 2025 semi-final when they defeated India A in a tense Super Over match in Colombo. After a tough fight, Bangladesh A held their nerve to book their deserved place in the final and eliminated the favorites of the tournament.
Bangladesh A claimed a stunning victory over long-time rivals India A in the Asia Cup Rising Stars 2025 semi-final, securing a thrilling Super Over victory after an intense match at the West End Park International Cricket Stadium in Doha ended in a draw. This result takes Bangla Tigers to the tournament final, while the respected Indian team faces a heartbreaking elimination.
The match was an up-and-down match from start to finish. Batting first, Bangladesh A set a tough target of 194/6, backed by a strong finish. Opener Habibur Rahman Sohan anchored the innings with a solid knock of 65 from 46 balls, but it was SM Meherob who provided the late surge, posting an unbeaten 48 off just 18 deliveries. His explosive knock, which included a 28-run lead against Naman Dhir, contributed 61 runs in the last three overs, taking the total well beyond what India could comfortably chase.
India A’s response started with a display of talent as opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi aimed to repeat his success in the tournament by scoring a quick 38 off 15 balls. Priyansh Arya (44) continued the momentum, taking India to 98/3 in less than 10 overs. However, the middle order struggled against the disciplined bowling of Ripon Mondol and Abdul Gaffar Saqlain.
The match came down to the last over with India A needing 16 runs. Despite losing a wicket, a frenetic three runs off the final ball, aided by fielding confusion, allowed them to level the score at 194/6, leading to the Super Over.
However, the Super Over turned into a nightmare for the team led by Jitesh Sharma. Batting first, India A collapsed to nil runs, losing both skipper Sharma and Ashutosh Sharma for golden ducks in the face of Ripon Mondol’s pace. Needing just 1 run for victory, Bangladesh A lost Yasir Ali to Ramandeep Singh’s sharp catch in the first ball. However, off-spinner Suyash Sharma’s wide delivery from the next ball clinched the win for Bangladesh A, securing their place in the final.
