IND vs SA 2nd Test Playing 11: India, South Africa to lock horns in Guwahati; probable team lists here

IND vs SA 2nd Test Day 1 Playing XI: India and South Africa will lock horns in the second Test in Guwahati today, with both sides hitting the field after the three-day finish in Kolkata. While India is chasing a series-leveling win after a 30-run defeat, South Africa is trying to secure the two-match series.

The opening Test saw both teams bowled out without reaching 200 in four overs, a rare occurrence in India’s red-ball history. Powerful spells from Simon Harmer and Keshav Maharaj and consistent half-centuries from Temba Bavuma shaped South Africa’s win. India’s chase of 124 failed, becoming the second lowest unsuccessful chase in Tests.

With the series on the line, India handed over the captaincy to Rishabh Pant and Shubman Gill was released to recover from his neck injury. Playing the match without Kagisa Rabada, South Africa will want to continue with the winning group without expecting any changes.

India’s squad changed after Gill’s departure

Rishabh Pant will manage India after regular skipper Shubman Gill was left out of the squad due to recovery from his neck injury. Gill, who missed the first Test and later left for Guwahati, will not feature in the series from now on.

The team is expected to continue with a mix of experienced bowlers and young batsmen. Changes to the mid-order remain possible depending on pitch conditions.
