Lando Norris starts in pole, Oscar Piastri fifth on grid as title hopes fade

It was a pretty exciting opening round, so let’s take a closer look.

Lando Norris tried to cut off Verstappen but missed the corner and went out, allowing the Dutchman to take first place.

Meanwhile, further down the grid, there was chaos and disaster. Piastri and Lawson crashed into each other in the first round, both are under investigation by the referees.

Lawson appears to have significant damage to his wing, while Piastri appears fine.

The virtual safety car was called because there was so much debris on the track.

Lance Stroll also had an incident after colliding with Gabriel Bortoleto on the first lap. Stroll is now out of the race.
