Fire breaks out at district hospital in M.P.’s Betul; patients shifted to safety

A fire broke out in a warehouse at Betul District Hospital in Madhya Pradesh on Sunday morning, November 23, 2025, but the staff brought the fire under control within minutes, preventing a major accident, officials said.
They said that as a precaution, patients in women’s and pediatric wards were shifted to safe places.
Authorities said that the fire started at 9.20 in the morning due to a short circuit in the warehouse in the kitchen section of the hospital, and was taken under control and extinguished by the officers in about 10 minutes.
They added that the situation did not escalate due to the quick intervention of the hospital management.
Hospital civil surgeon and in-charge Dr Rupesh Padmakar and Resident Medical Officer (RMO) Dr Ranu Verma reached the spot immediately.
Dr. An electrician and his assistant turned off the power supply without delay and used extinguishers to douse the flames, Padmakar said.
Patients in the women’s ward and children’s ward were moved to safer areas as a precaution. Hospital staff then began the process of returning them to their respective wards, officials said.
Betul’s in-charge Collector Akshat Jain, Additional Collector Vandana Jat, Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr Manoj Hurmade and state electricity distribution company staff inspected the site and gave necessary instructions.
