‘I will cut you with this f–king knife’: Man recalls wild moment he chased off alleged machete-wielding intruders during group’s 20 minute crime spree

A young man has recalled the moment he used a kitchen knife to chase away a group of machete-wielding intruders who were allegedly terrorizing several families in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs on a 20-minute crime spree in the early hours of the morning.
Aaron, 21, said he was with his mother in the kitchen of their Camperwell home just before 2am on Sunday when he was confronted by the alleged masked intruders.
“They asked where the house keys were and swept several items off the kitchen counter onto the floor with one arm,” Aaron told 7 News exclusively.
But when the alleged intruders demanded the family car keys, Aaron grabbed a knife and chased them away, shouting: “I’m going to cut you with this damn knife.”
“I’m trying to protect my family… just to scare them away,” he told the programme.
Victoria Police said in a statement that the group fled on foot but later returned and damaged the front door and broke the window of the Camperwell home.
Nothing was stolen and no occupants were physically injured.
The trio allegedly attempted to enter a home on Smythe Avenue in Mont Albert just after 2:05 a.m., but fled after encountering the home’s male occupant.

It is alleged that CCTV captured someone trying the front door, who then dispersed after the male resident began shouting at them.
Victoria Police said the three men then allegedly jumped the fence on Weybridge Street in Surrey Hills and entered another house at 2.15am.
“They stole two sets of car keys, then a Mercedes B-Class and a Mazda CX3,” a Victoria Police spokesman said.
“One of the stolen cars was later tracked to a property on Tamarisk Street in Narre Warren.”

Victoria Police said a 25-year-old Narre Warren man was arrested at the property following the execution of a search warrant.
He has been charged with motor vehicle theft and will appear before the Dandenong Magistrates Court on April 30.
A 17-year-old boy from the Casey area has been released pending further investigation.
The investigation into aggravated theft continues.
