Man who grabbed Ariana Grande at premiere banned from Singapore

The Australian man who jumped over a barricade and kidnapped Hollywood star Ariana Grande has been deported and banned from entering Singapore.
26-year-old Johnson Wen sentenced to nine days in prison The Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) told local media that he is now “banned from re-entering Singapore” on the grounds that he is a public nuisance.
Wen pushed photographers and attacked the actress and singer, who attended the Asian premiere of Wicked: For Good on November 13. His co-star Cynthia Erivo distanced him from Grande.
Wen has a history of disrupting concerts and celebrity events, including jumping on stage at Katy Perry’s Sydney concert in June this year.
The incident sparked outrage in Singapore, with many accusing him of re-traumatizing Grande.
The pop star said he suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder following the suicide bomb attack at his concert in Manchester in May 2017, which killed 22 people and injured hundreds more.
During Wen’s trial, the court heard that he twice attempted to break into the film’s premiere without permission, according to Singapore media.
He then made a second attempt to break through the barricades. Security guards stopped him and cornered him.
Wen later posted videos thanking Grande for taking him on the carpet and said he was “free.”
Police arrested him the next day and charged him with public nuisance; Wen also pleaded guilty.
Speaking to Channel News Asia, District Judge Christopher Goh said Wen was “attention seeking”, adding that he was wrong to think he would not face any consequences.
Grande did not comment on the matter.
Erivo spoke to NBC about the incident, saying she “just wanted to make sure my friend was safe.”
“I’m sure he didn’t mean to hurt us, but you never know these things and I wanted to make sure he was okay. That was my first instinct,” he said.
