David Cameron reveals prostate cancer diagnosis and calls for targeted screening | David Cameron

David Cameron has revealed he is being treated for prostate cancer, calling for a targeted screening programme.
The former prime minister told the Times: “I kind of want to come out into the open. I want to add my name to the long list of people calling for a targeted screening programme.”
“I don’t particularly like discussing my personal health issues, but I feel like I have to. Let’s be honest. Men aren’t very good at talking about their health. We tend to procrastinate. We’re embarrassed to talk about something like the prostate because it’s so intricately linked to sexual health and everything else.”
“So I thought, this is happening to you and you should speak out about it.
“I would feel bad if I didn’t come forward and say I had this experience. I had a scan. It helped me discover something was wrong. It gave me a chance to deal with it.”
