Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said “the new India neither fears nor bows to terrorism”, referring to Operation Sindoor, India’s military operation after the Pahalgam terror attack. Prime Minister Modi stated that although India wants peace, it “will not compromise” on its own security, and cited Operation Sindoor as a prime example of the country’s stance against terrorism.

Addressing a gathering on the 350th Shaheedi Diwas of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur in Kurukshetra, Prime Minister Modi said: “We talk about brotherhood with the world and at the same time we protect our own borders. We want peace but we do not compromise on our own security. Operation Sindoor is the most glaring example of this. The whole world has seen that the new India is neither afraid nor bowing down to terrorism. Today’s India is moving forward with courage and clarity, with full determination.” force.”

New Delhi launched Operation Sindoor, targeting the terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, on the night of May 6-7 this year, in retaliation for the Pahalgam attack on April 22, in which 26 people died. After four days of intense exchange of drones and missiles, both sides agreed to end hostilities on May 10.

During his speech, Prime Minister Modi also expressed concern about drug addiction among youth. Prime Minister Modi emphasized that Guru Tegh Bahadur’s teachings should be adapted to solve the drug problem. “I would also like to discuss an issue that concerns the youth of our society, an issue on which Guru Sahib has also expressed his concern. This issue is addiction, the issue of drugs. Drug addiction has seriously challenged the dreams of many of our youth. The government is making every effort to eliminate this problem, but it is also a burden on society and families. At such a time, Guru Tegh Bahadur’s teachings are both inspiration and solution for us,” he said.

PM Modi also shared the sacrifice made by Guru Tegh Bahadur to protect Kashmiri Pandits from the powerful transformation. “Their lives, sacrifices and character are a source of great inspiration. During the time of the Mughal invaders, Guru Sahib set an ideal of courage… During the time of the Mughal invaders, Kashmiri Hindus were being forcibly converted to Islam. In the midst of this crisis, a group of victims sought help from Guru Sahib. At that time, Sri Guru Sahib had told these victims that you all should clearly tell Aurangzeb that if Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur accepts Islam, then Islam will prevail. All of us “We will accept Islam,” he said.

“Cruel Aurangzeb ordered Guru Tegh Bahadur to be imprisoned. But Guru Tegh Bahadur himself declared his intention to go to Delhi. The Mughal rulers even tempted him, but Guru Tegh Bahadur remained loyal. He did not compromise on religion and principles. Therefore, to break his spirit and divert Guru Sahib from the path, his three companions, Bhai Dyala Ji, Bhai Sati Das Ji and Bhai Mati Das Ji, were killed. He was brutally killed in front of him but Guru Sahib was determined “He did not abandon the path of religion, Guru Sahib devoted his life to the protection of religion,” he added.

Guru Tegh Bahadur was the ninth of the ten Sikh Gurus, a revered spiritual leader, philosopher, poet and warrior. On the occasion, Prime Minister Modi and Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini released a special coin and commemorative stamp symbolizing the 350th Shaheedi Diwa of the revered ninth Sikh Guru Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. Earlier, Prime Minister Modi inaugurated ‘Panchjanya’, a structure built in honor of Lord Krishna’s sacred conch in Kurukshetra. Prime Minister Modi also visited the Mahabharata Anubhav Kendra, an immersive experience center featuring installations depicting important episodes from the Mahabharata, highlighting its enduring cultural and spiritual significance.
