Fake Currency, Ganja Racket Busted; Rs 37.5 Lakh Counterfeit Notes, 22.4 kg Ganja Seized

Nellore: Nellore rural police on Wednesday busted a gang involved in circulating fake currency and transporting ganja, seizing Rs 37.50 lakh in fake currency notes and 22.4 kg ganja from a rented house in Dhanalaxmipuram.
The suspects were identified as Sheikh Hasan alias Munna, Karthik Reddy (38) of Allur mandal, Sheikh Riaz alias Iliyaz (25), Sheikh Mustafa (23) and Bellankonda Anil (23) of Muttukuru mandal.
Police said the gang procured around 25 kg of marijuana from Odisha, of which 3 kg was sold in small packets. The remaining stock, along with bundles of counterfeit banknotes, was stored in the rented facility.
On November 26, the prime accused Sheikh Hasan tried to flee towards Chennai when he noticed the police but was caught after a short chase. During interrogation, he explained the gang’s role in circulating counterfeit currency and distributing marijuana.
According to his information, CI G. Venu and his team raided the house that night and arrested the other accused and seized the fake currency notes and marijuana.
District SP Dr. Ajita Vejendla, Additional SP Ch. He supervised the operation together with Soujanya and Rural DSP G. Srinivasa Rao are monitoring the investigation. Senior officials praised the Nellore Rural Police for their swift action.
