Sergey Brin saw his net worth soar earlier this week as shares of Google parent Alphabet posted a record rally, fueled by an impressive year-long rally fueled by the company’s sharp focus on artificial intelligence tools.

On Tuesday, Brin became the third richest person in the world, toppling Oracle’s Larry Ellison. But that didn’t last long, as Alphabet shares took a hit and the net worth of Sergey Brin, who owned shares in the company, plummeted.

According to the Forbes Real Time Billionaires list, Sergey Brin’s net worth is $243.10 billion. In the past day, his net worth fell by $2.5 billion, or 1.01%.

When he took over for Larry Ellison on Tuesday, Sergey Brin’s net worth was $248.4 billion, an increase of $6.4 billion in one day.

Brin’s Google co-founder Larry Page, meanwhile, remained at No. 2 on the list.

Larry Ellison knocks out Sergey Brin

Meanwhile, Oracle’s Larry Ellison rose to third place on the Forbes list, displacing Sergey Brin from that position.

According to the latest data, Larry Ellison’s net worth is $256.4 billion, making him the third richest person in the world after Elon Musk and Larry Page.

Alphabet, Oracle share price

Alphabet shares traded in the red at Wednesday’s close, falling 1.08% to $320.50, ending a 13% rally for Google’s parent company since Friday.

Shares were up marginally 0.17% during premarket trading on Thursday. The stock took a hit mainly due to profit booking and AI bubble fears.

Meanwhile, Oracle shares were up more than 4% at $204.96 at Wednesday’s close.
