Phone battery will last longer if you simply tweak 7 settings | UK | News

Samsung users have been told how to get more life out of their phone’s battery. ZDNet shared seven settings people can change to extend phone life.

Phone batteries typically last two to three years with around 400 charging cycles. Factors such as usage habits, temperature, background applications affect daily and total battery life. Even keeping Wi-Fi and mobile data on when you’re not using it can waste battery. Here are seven ways to save battery life with simple settings changes.

1. Dark mode

In Dark Mode, black parts of the screen are not turned on, which reduces the screen’s power usage and extends your battery life. Settings>Display>Dark

2. Adaptive brightness

Turning on adaptive brightness can save battery life as your phone identifies the light level in the room you are in and increases or decreases the screen brightness accordingly. Settings>Display>Adaptive Brightness

3. Uninstall apps

Removing apps that drain your battery can help increase battery life. Identify over-consuming apps that you don’t use. Tap and hold the app > Uninstall

4. Usage limits

You can also set usage limits on apps to limit how much you can use them and therefore how much battery they consume. Settings>Battery and Device Care>Battery>Background Usage Limits

5. Download content

To avoid using data and battery to listen to podcasts on your commute or watch some TV on your lunch break, consider downloading content to your phone. Follow the in-app instructions for downloading. YouTube, Spotify, and Netflix all have download options.

6. Always-on display

By keeping the screen at low brightness, this setting can prevent you from turning your phone on and off and wasting battery. Settings>Lock Screen and AOD>Always On Display>When to Show>As Scheduled

7. Performance profile

Use your phone for social media, messaging, etc. instead of gaming. If you are using it for personal purposes, you should set your phone to the Light Performance profile to increase processing speed. Settings>Device Maintenance>Performance Profile>Light
