Trump’s extraordinary Thanksgiving posts branded ‘indefensible’ | US | News

Donald Trump was heavily criticized by a guest on CNN who called the president’s Thanksgiving outburst “absolutely indefensible.”
This tirade comes after two members of the West Virginia National Guard were shot while deployed in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday, November 26. 20-year-old Sarah Beckstrom tragically died from her injuries the next day, while 24-year-old Andrew Wolfe remained hospitalized.
The day after the incident, the president went to Truth Social to announce a “permanent pause” on immigration from “Third World Countries.”
“To ensure the full recovery of the US system, I will permanently pause immigration from all Third World Countries, ending all illegal admissions of millions of Bidens, including those signed by Sleepy Joe Biden’s Autopen.”
Trump also attacked Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, whom he called “severely back-and-forth,” and targeted Rep. Ilhan Omar, a Somali immigrant, for being “always wrapped in a swaddle hijab.” He falsely claimed she had entered the US illegally, the Irish Star reported.
Trump continued the vicious attack on her, saying she “does nothing but hatefully complain about how ‘bad’ she is treated, when our Country, its Constitution and place of origin is a corrupt, backward, crime-ridden country, and is not even a country that actually lacks a Government, Military, Police, schools, etc.”
Former federal prosecutor and Republican strategist Joseph Moreno appeared on CNN’s The Lead on Friday, November 28, and condemned the President’s remarks under questioning by guest host Boris Sanchez.
“Whatever happened to ‘Happy Thanksgiving’?” Sanchez asked his guest. Moreno responded: “Boris, to be honest, you are making a point all your life about how difficult it is to be a conservative-leaning citizen who values robust but respectful debate.
“And when you see something like this, which is absolutely indefensible, and you sit around the Thanksgiving table, your family and your friends say, ‘How can you support an administration that sends out messages like this?’ It’s not easy.”
Moreno explained that “you have to see the big picture.”
He posed the question: “Do you think we’re better off as a country right now than we would be under Biden or Harris? And is it worth putting up with a president who spreads those kinds of messages?”
“I’m not going to pretend I know the answer to that,” the former GOP strategist said after acknowledging that “it’s tough.”
Moreno’s comments came after Republican strategist Melik Abdul expressed similar concerns on CNN about the president’s controversial Thanksgiving messages.
“So when I saw him yesterday, I was one of those people who was like, ‘Oh, bro, you’ve got to be kidding me now,'” Abdul said.
In Trump’s Truth Social outburst, he accused them of crimes across the country while also claiming that “most foreign-born U.S. residents” are on welfare, come from failed countries or prisons, mental hospitals, gangs, or drug cartels.
US Citizenship and Immigration Services announced on Thursday that it will review the Green Cards of individuals from 19 countries of “concern”, in line with Trump’s instructions.
The list includes Afghanistan, Burma, Chad, Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Yemen, Burundi, Cuba, Laos, Sierra Leone, Togo, Turkmenistan and Venezuela.
