UK floods LIVE: Met Office amber warning and ‘danger to life’ alert | Weather | News

Richard Preece, Tactical Manager for Natural Resources Wales, said: “We are asking people to be aware of possible flooding, particularly in parts of South Wales, with heavy rain overnight from Sunday to Monday morning.

“With some rivers already swollen and the ground saturated, we expect a number of flood warnings and alerts to be issued. We also expect the rain to cause surface water problems. We urge people to be careful and prepare for potential flooding. You can check on our website if you live in an area at risk of flooding and sign up to our free flood warning service.

“We would also like to remind people to stay away from overflowing riverbanks and not to drive or drive through floodwater as you don’t know what’s underneath.

“We do not issue flood warnings for flooding from surface water, so it is important for everyone to know the risk of flooding.

“If flooding is expected in your area, we want to make sure people are doing what they can to keep themselves safe. Consider preparing a flood kit with important documents and medications, moving your car to higher ground, and moving valuables upstairs or to higher ground.”

“Check the flood warning pages on our website for local Flood Warnings and Flood Warnings for river or coastal flooding. These pages are updated every 15 minutes. Visit naturalresources.wales/flooding or call Floodline on 0345 988 1188.”
