A list of mass killings in the United States this year

St. Four people were killed and 15 others were injured in a shooting that broke out during a high school reunion party at a bar on Helena Island. A man accused of shooting and another man killed had a dispute and began shooting at each other, authorities said. Investigators found evidence of a third shooter and said they expected more arrests.
LELAND, MISSISSIPPI, 10 October
Seven people were killed in a shooting following a high school football game in a small town in the Mississippi Delta. Authorities have not released a possible motive for the shooting in Leland, but the FBI says it “may have resulted from a dispute between several individuals.” At least nine people were arrested, many charged with capital murder.
GRAND BLANC TOWNSHIP, MICHIGAN, 28 September
A man opened fire on a church in Michigan, setting it on fire, killing four people and burning the church to the ground. The FBI said the gunman killed by law enforcement responded was motivated by “anti-religious beliefs” against the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. MERLIN, OREGON11 August
Two adults and three children are dead in a murder-suicide in southern Oregon, police said. The children were 11, 9 and 7 years old. Police found the bodies at a home near Grants Pass after one of the victims failed to show up for work.
ANACONDA, MONTANA, 1 August
Four people were fatally shot at a bar in a small town about 75 miles (120 kilometers) southeast of Missoula. The man accused of murder evaded capture for a week.
TIPTONVILLE, TENNESSEE, 29 July
The parents, grandmother and uncle of a baby found abandoned in the front yard were shot in a wooded area about 40 miles away. The man accused of murder is the boyfriend of the baby’s grandmother’s sister, authorities said.
NEW YORK CITY, 28 July
A man carrying a rifle killed four people in a midtown Manhattan building that houses financial companies and the NFL headquarters. The victims included an off-duty New York police officer. The gunman injured a fifth person before taking his own life.
TALLADEGA, ALABAMA5 July
Three men and a woman were fatally shot in an apartment. The bodies were found following a police search for a missing woman. A friend of one of the victims was arrested.
CHICAGO, July 2
Two men and two women died and 14 people were injured when people leaving the album release party opened fire on a car. Police said the driver immediately fled and no one was in custody.
CHICAGO26 June
A man upset with a friend and his ex-girlfriend set the building on fire, killing four more people, police said. The fire was started with gasoline and a lighter.
MINNEAPOLIS29 April
Four people were shot and killed inside a vehicle in the Phillips neighborhood in south Minneapolis. A suspect was arrested and charged a few days later.
PERRY, GEORGIA, 4 April
Three adults, ages 82, 51 and 37, and a 2-year-old child were found dead in the mobile home in Perry, a rural city about 30 miles south of Macon. Authorities said three of the victims were stabbed and one was strangled. In May, a man was arrested and charged with murder, authorities said.
HALLANDALE BEACH, FLORIDA: 26 March
A man shot and killed his estranged girlfriend and her three children before turning the gun on himself at a South Florida home, according to local news. The man, a father of two, later died in the hospital where he was taken. The fourth child was shot but survived.
LAKE STATION, INDIANA, February 21
The deaths of a mother and her three daughters, ages 4, 6 and 7, who were shot to death at a home in Lake Station, about 35 miles southeast of Chicago, were ruled homicides, according to local reports. The woman’s husband was also found fatally shot and his death was ruled a suicide.
BYRON, WYOMING, 10 February
A woman shot herself after killing her four daughters, ages 2 to 9, according to authorities. Authorities said three of the girls died that day, while the fourth girl and their mother died later, according to local news.
NEW ORLEANS, January 1
A driver plowed into a crowd of revelers in New Orleans’ French Quarter at 3:15 a.m. on New Year’s Eve, killing at least 14 people and injuring dozens, authorities said. The driver, a US citizen from Texas, died in a shootout with police. The FBI called the attack an act of terrorism.
