The defense secretary’s placard had an unfortunate misspelling.
Defense Minister Pete Hegseth was ridiculed at Tuesday’s Cabinet meeting for a disastrous typo on his name card. Hegseth’s banner labeled his role in the administration at the meeting as “Minister of War”; where he doubled down on his department’s deadly boat attacks in the Caribbean and promised to “send narcoterrorists to the bottom of the ocean.” The typo was immediately mocked by critics, including California Governor Gavin Newsom, who alluded to its disturbing similarity to the SS, the Nazi Germany paramilitary organization responsible for the genocide of nearly six million Jews during the Holocaust.
