Pennsylvania Gov Josh Shapiro condemns inflammatory ICE rhetoric from DA Larry Krasner as 'abhorrent'
Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro condemned remarks by Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner comparing Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers to Nazis and called for calming the rhetoric in an interview with “Special Report” on Thursday.
“These are a small group of wannabe Nazis in a country of 350 million people, that’s who they are. We outnumber them,” Krasner said Tuesday. “If we have to hunt you like they hunted the Nazis for decades, we will find your identities, we will find you, we will bring justice.”
Shapiro condemned Krasner’s comments on Thursday.
“This type of rhetoric is unacceptable, disgusting and wrong; period, hard stop, end of punishment,” the governor told Fox News chief political host Bret Baier.

Addressing antisemitism and broader unrest, including unrest in Minnesota tied to the Trump administration’s immigration policies, Shapiro called for “calm.”
“We need to lower the rhetoric, lower the temperature and create calm in society,” he said. “I believe the president’s policies are injecting chaos into the streets of Minnesota.”
Shapiro’s comments follow his recent criticism of Vice President J.D. Vance, accusing him of remaining silent on antisemitism for his own political gain.
“I’m pointing out that anti-Semitism is a problem, and I want to see the vice president of the United States do better,” Shapiro said.

Shapiro said he stood by his accusations against Vance and blamed leaders of both parties for what he described as a longstanding failure to combat antisemitism.
“I think leaders need to speak and act with moral clarity. [antisemitism] out,” he explained. “I just called out someone on the political left. “I would like to see the vice president of the United States do the same.”
“I believe this is a problem on both sides of the political aisle. I’m not pointing fingers at one side or the other,” he added.
The Pennsylvania governor specifically accused Vance of offering “comfort” to Republicans with anti-Semitic views and said his actions made the United States “less safe.”
“Nick Fuentes, Tucker Carlson or others who espouse anti-Semitic views should not be allowed on the platform,” Shapiro said.
“He is trying to gain short-term political gain by not criticizing them,” he added.
Shapiro recently described Vance as a “sycophant” who “embarrasses himself every day” and offered additional criticism of the Trump administration during his appearance on “Special Report.”
“I believe that we are a party that defends people’s rights and freedoms at a time when the administration in Washington is eroding people’s rights and freedoms,” the governor said.

A spokesperson for Vance told NBC News on Wednesday that the Pennsylvania governor’s comments were “the next level of hypocritical deflection against Shapiro, a misguided plea for attention from the political heavyweights.”
