World’s Top 100 Defence Manufacturers Unveiled – Check Where India Stands In The List | World News

The World’s Best Weapons Manufacturers: India has achieved a significant milestone in expanding its domestic defense industry under the ‘Make in India’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiatives. The Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) published its latest report on December 1, 2025, ranking the 100 largest arms producing companies worldwide. India’s three companies are proudly included in the prestigious ranking.

Which Indian Companies Included in the List?

According to the report, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), which produces the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas fighter jet, ranks 44th among the world’s largest arms manufacturers. Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), known for its radar and electronic warfare systems, ranked 58th.

Meanwhile, Mazagon Dockyard Limited (MDL), a major warship and submarine manufacturer, ranked 91st on the SIPRI list.

USA Dominates the List

The report highlights that four of the five largest global arms manufacturers, including Lockheed Martin, RTX, Northrop Grumman and General Dynamics, are based in the United States. The only non-American company in the top five was UK-based BAE Systems, which ranked fourth.

Record Revenues

The report titled ‘SIPRI Top 100 Weapons Producing and Military Service Companies, 2024’ states that the sales of the world’s leading arms manufacturers reached a record level of 679 billion dollars in 2024.

The total revenue of the three largest companies in the United States (Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman and General Dynamics) increased by 3.8 percent to $334 billion in 2024. Of the 100 largest companies worldwide, 39 are from the United States, and 30 of these saw revenue increases during the year.

This ranking not only highlights the dominance of American and European defense firms, but also points to the growing strength and global importance of India’s defense manufacturing sector.

With HAL, BEL and MDL making their mark, India is also becoming a serious player in the global arms market.
