UK snow maps show exact date blizzards hit as far south as Brighton – 20 counties hit | Weather | News

UK weather maps show snow is expected to fall in England and Wales in December, with cold conditions expected in many counties.

WXCHARTS’ weather forecast shows there will be snow on Tuesday, December 16, with Shropshire and Gloucestershire among the areas covered in whiteout. The next day, December 17, maps show a wall of snow covering much of Wales, from the far north of the country to the capital Cardiff.

Merseyside will also be covered in white on the same day, while rain can also be expected in other parts of Northern England.

Later on 17 December, weather maps predict snow will fall in East Sussex, with Brighton to be hardest hit by the showers.

Minimum temperature maps show most of the UK’s conditions ranging between 4°C and 7°C.

The Met Office’s forecast for 9 December to 18 December calls for generally unstable conditions, with low pressure affecting north-west areas before heading east.

The service adds: “As a result, the wettest conditions are more likely in western areas, although all parts may experience heavy rain at times. Strong winds are also possible at times, again more likely in the west. Temperatures are expected to remain near or above normal.”

The Met Office doesn’t mention snow in its forecast.

In the second half of December, the institution predicts rain in some regions and snowfall on the hills.

He adds: “However, compared to the unstable conditions we will see in the first few weeks of December, there is a greater chance of high pressure bringing more dry weather during this period.

“This will increase the likelihood of fog and frost overnight. Overall, near or slightly above average temperatures are likely, but some colder spells are also possible, particularly if extended periods of steady development develop.”
