President Donald Trump on Friday ordered a sweeping federal review of all childhood vaccine recommendations in the United States, saying the rule was unnecessary for healthy newborns, just hours after a CDC advisory committee decided to end its longstanding guidance that infants receive the Hepatitis B vaccine at birth.

“Today, the CDC Immunization Committee made the very good decision to END the Hepatitis B Vaccine Recommendation for infants, the vast majority of whom have NO RISK for Hepatitis B, a disease that is most commonly transmitted sexually or through contaminated needles,” Trump said. he wrote.

The president also criticized what he saw as a vaccine program that required “far more than is necessary.”

“The American Childhood Immunization Program has long required 72 “shots” for perfectly healthy infants, far more than any other country in the world and far more than is required,” the president added. “Actually, this is ridiculous! Like me, many parents and scientists question the effectiveness of this “program”!”

Trump announced he signed a memo directing HHS to ‘accelerate’ the current American vaccine program.

“I just signed a Presidential Memorandum directing the Department of Health and Human Services to “FAST TRACK” a comprehensive evaluation of Vaccine Programs in other countries around the world, better aligning the U.S. Vaccine Program so that it is finally based on the Gold Standard of Science and COMMON SENSE!” Trump wrote.

President Trump closed his message by reiterating his support for HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., writing: “I am fully confident that Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and the CDC will get this done quickly and correctly for our Nation’s Children.”
