Meghan Markle ‘could cancel Netflix show to copy Kate’s magic’ | Royal | News

Although Meghan Markle released the festive special of her ‘With Love, Meghan’ series just days before Princess Catherine hosts a Christmas carol concert, an expert believes Meghan may now retire the show entirely.

Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams explains that the two events could not be more different. He said: “Meghan is secretly struggling to emulate some of the magic that Kate is clearly creating, but it’s not working.”

He added: “She has displayed an almost relentless positivity, and it gets really tiring to watch. She seems to want to be a sort of Californian Mary Poppins, perfect in every way, and so her show doesn’t have the same level of substance as Kate’s anthemic concert.”

The series broke into Netflix’s Top 10 UK TV Shows within 24 hours of airing and saw Meghan host cooking demonstrations and DIY workshops.

The royal expert believes this is the last we’ll see of the series, and Meghan and Harry will need to think of another idea to pitch to the streaming giant.

As reported MirrorHe said: “The problem is, in the position he’s in with the Netflix deal being dropped, which isn’t unusual, he needed a big name.”

He added: “Even though Naomi Osaka is huge in her field, there will still be a lot of people who don’t know who she is. So if viewers are Googling the names of her guests, it doesn’t look good for their future at Netflix, so this could be the last episode of the series.”

Richard says there is a widespread belief that Meghan still feels “rivalry” with the Princess of Wales.

Princess Catherine said Christmas was a time that “speaks of love being formed in the simplest, most human ways” and “invites us to remember the power of reaching out to each other with generosity of heart, understanding and hope”.

1,600 guests were invited to the festive concert at Westminster Abbey and the ceremony also featured readings from celebrities such as Kate Winslet and Prince William.

There were also many musical performances by artists such as Katie Melua and Griff. The ‘Together for Christmas’ event has been filmed for broadcast and will air as part of a special program on ITV1 and ITVX on Christmas Eve. It will air again on Christmas morning.
