Kargil Vijay Diwas: President Murmu, PM Modi lead nation to pay tributes to martyrs on 27th anniversary of ‘Operation Vijay’

As the country commemorates the 27th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas, President Droupadi Mumu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the tributes to the soldiers who sacrificed their lives during ‘Operation Vijay’ in 1999.
On July 26, 1999, the Indian Army announced the successful conclusion of the operation, declaring victory over Pakistan in the Kargil war after a nearly three-month-long battle in the icy hills of Kargil in Ladakh.

On Sunday, July 26, 2026, the Army will organize a ‘Shradhanjali Samaroh’ (wreath-laying ceremony) at the Kargil War Memorial in Ladakh’s Drass to pay tribute to the brave hearts of the war. Union Minister Rajnath Singh is expected to address military personnel and veterans during the anniversary commemoration event.

President Droupadi Murmu commemorated the brave warriors who sacrificed their lives for the protection of the motherland and said that the nation will remain forever indebted to them.
“On the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas, I humbly pay tribute to those brave warriors who sacrificed their lives for the protection of our homeland,” Murmu said. X Hindi.
“Their unmatched valor, unwavering determination and unparalleled patriotism stand as exemplary models of the glorious traditions of our Army,” he said.
“The nation will forever remain indebted to them. The saga of valor of these heroic warriors will continue to inspire future generations to walk the path of national service and resolute duty,” the President said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the bravery shown by India’s brave soldiers in the face of the toughest conditions will forever remain a source of national pride.
He also said that the nation expresses its gratitude to the brave soldiers for their extraordinary courage and dedication towards the security of India. “Their courage in the face of the most challenging circumstances will forever remain a source of national pride. Their unwavering patriotism and devotion to duty will continue to inspire generations.” X.
