The much-anticipated spy thriller Dhurandhar, starring Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt and Sara Arjun, finally released in theaters on December 5 and minted Rs 27 crore nett in India on its opening day. It is the second film directed by Aditya Dhar after his blockbuster debut Uri: The Surgical Strike in 2019. The Vicky Kaushal starrer has grossed more than 340 million rupees worldwide with just 40 million rupees. While Uri is based on the true story of India’s retaliation for the 2016 Uri attack, Dhurandhar is inspired by real events regarding India’s undercover operations to destabilize the criminal syndicate in Lyari, Karachi, through the Dhurandhar Project. After Maddock Horror Comedy Universe, YRF Spy Universe and Rohit Shetty’s Cop Universe, we may have another cinematic universe in Bollywood where Uri and Dhurandhar can be linked together.
