Sreenarayanaguru Open University to get permanent campus as Kerala govt sanctions ₹90 crore

The Kerala government has sanctioned ₹ 90 crore for the construction of a permanent academic and administrative complex for Sreenarayanaguru Open University (SGOU).

According to Higher Education Secretary Roji M. John, the university, which started operations in 2020 and currently operates in rented building, will soon have its own state-of-the-art four-storey campus spread over 16,864 square meters.

The new complex will include modern classrooms, a high-tech office system, advanced electrical installations, fire safety infrastructure and comprehensive water supply facilities.

“The new campus will not only fulfill the long-standing desire of the university but also strengthen the higher education ecosystem of Kerala by creating a modern academic environment for thousands of students,” Mr. John said.

The minister said the decision reflects the government’s commitment to modernizing the higher education sector and providing high-quality facilities for students and faculty.
