‘Little Bit Disappointed, Zelensky Hasn’t Read Peace Proposal’: Trump Signals Frustration Over Ukraine Talks | World News

US President Donald Trump and the First Lady arrived on the red carpet at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., as questions continue to mount about the administration’s approach to Ukraine peace efforts.
On Sunday, Trump signaled his disappointment with Kiev’s response to the latest diplomatic aid, saying, “I have to say I’m a little disappointed that President Zelensky hasn’t read the peace proposal yet.”
Amid these concerns, Trump’s eldest son has suggested that the president may withdraw from Ukraine peace talks because of repeated allegations of corruption involving senior Ukrainian officials. Speaking at the Doha Forum, Donald Trump Jr. claimed that Ukraine was “a country far more corrupt than Russia” and described Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky as “one of the greatest marketers of all time.”

When asked if his father would withdraw from the peace talks, Trump Jr. said, “I think he could.” He added that this was his personal opinion as he had not played a prominent public role in the recent negotiations.
These comments came after a three-day meeting in Miami between delegations from Kiev and Washington. Both sides described the talks as productive, but Ukrainian officials said little concrete progress had been made and unresolved issues regarding security guarantees and territorial issues remained.
Ukraine has long faced corruption concerns, and recent developments have intensified scrutiny. Andriy Yermak, a top aide and influential figure in the peace negotiations, resigned after anti-corruption agencies raided his home in November, highlighting ongoing difficulties in the country’s political system.
Giving direct information about the state of diplomacy, President Volodymyr Zelensky said that peace negotiations with the USA were “constructive” but “not easy”. Zelensky spoke by phone Saturday with President Donald Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff and Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner. “American representatives know Ukraine’s basic positions,” Zelensky said. “Although it wasn’t easy, the conversation was constructive.”
His remarks came ahead of talks scheduled to be held in London today, including Zelensky, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.
At the same time, the Kremlin welcomed Trump’s new national security strategy, saying it “in many respects coincides with our vision.” The strategy warned that Europe faced “the erasure of civilization” and stated that Washington aimed to restore strategic stability with Russia.
On Sunday, Trump’s outgoing envoy to Ukraine said a deal to end the conflict was “really close” and now depends on resolving two key issues: the future of the Donbas region and the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant.
