Road rage fury caught on UK dash cams as motorists left scared of driving | UK | News

New data has revealed the staggering number of Brits falling victim to road rage incidents as images show angry drivers behaving aggressively in 2025. A survey of 2,000 adults in the UK found that road rage incidents were most common, with people experiencing incidents such as offensive language and excessive horn honking. Nextbase, the in-car camera brand, shared images of traffic accidents that occurred in the United Kingdom in 2025 and gave advice to people on how to deal with them.

The survey found that almost one in three drivers (30%) find festive driving more stressful than usual. Additionally, when asked how they would feel if they were delayed in going home for Christmas, 44% expressed disappointment, 27% expressed disappointment, and 15% expressed anger. Nextbase has issued a new warning to drivers; because the week before Christmas was singled out as the most hostile festive period on UK roads (16%), followed by Christmas Eve and Christmas Day (13%).

The survey revealed that Scotland is the region with the highest number of road rage incidents in the UK, with 28%. Meanwhile, according to the survey, the city with the highest number of traffic fights was Brighton with 31%.

Interestingly, there seems to be an age gap when it comes to confronting road rage incidents. The survey found that 41% of 18-24 year olds found driving during the holidays more stressful, compared to just 21% of those aged over 55. While 34% of young drivers are victims, the overall rate is 25%.

Regarding responding to a road rage incident, 16% of respondents said they panicked and remained silent, while 15% said they did not remember how they reacted. 15% apologized even though it was not their fault, and 11% froze.

Participants also described how they felt after road rage incidents. 30% were anxious and distracted, 30% were sad, 29% were afraid, and 14% were afraid to continue driving.

Nextbase has shared a video compilation of some of the worst road rage incidents in the UK in 2025, offering tips on how to react and deal with them when they happen.

When you notice that you’re having a panic response, they recommend trying grounding techniques like taking deep breaths and relaxing your shoulders and jaw. They also warn drivers to try to de-escalate the situation by not adhering to their level of aggression.

Additionally, you should use box breathing to stay calm, recover before continuing driving, and always have a dashcam to record events.

Bryn Brooker, Head of Road Safety at Nextbase, said: “The festive period should be about celebration, but our research shows it’s become a pressure cooker on the roads. Almost half of Brits are disappointed when they’re delayed getting home, and the week before Christmas is now the most hostile time to drive.”

“Most striking is that many people freeze, panic or don’t even remember how they reacted; 20% later regret their reaction. This shows that drivers need better tools and strategies to deal with these confrontations safely. When 30% of victims continue to drive anxious and distracted, it reveals why having rescue techniques is so important for everyone’s safety.”
