Showrunner Allan Heinberg confirmed that the series ended because the material from the comic book could only fill the season. In 2022, the show always aims to focus only on Dream’s journey.
Season 2 aims to conclude this journey as the dream is moving towards war and salvation, ending the epic on a full back.
