Disney making $1 billion investment in OpenAI, will allow characters on Sora AI video generator

Walt Disney Company On Thursday, it announced a $1 billion equity investment in OpenAI and will allow users to make videos with its copyrighted characters on Sora.
OpenAI launched Sora in September and allows users to create short videos by simply typing a prompt. Under the startup’s new agreement with Disney, Sora users will be able to create content consisting of more than 200 characters across Disney, Marvel, Pixar and Star Wars.
“The rapid evolution of AI marks an important time for our industry, and through this collaboration with OpenAI, we will thoughtfully and responsibly expand the scope of our storytelling through creative AI while respecting and protecting creators and their works,” Disney CEO Bob Iger said in a statement. he said.

Some of the characters available under the deal include Mickey Mouse, Ariel, Cinderella, Iron Man and Darth Vader. The agreement does not include any talent likenesses or voices, the companies said.
OpenAI said users can leverage the same intellectual property when using ChatGPT Images, where they can use natural language commands to create images.
