Killer whales and dolphins seen hunting together in rare video

Scientists have captured rare footage of killer whales and Pacific white-sided dolphins hunting together off the coast of British Columbia, Canada.

Although their common name is ‘killer whale’, orcas are actually the largest species of dolphins.

The findings, published in the journal Nature Scientific Reports, are the first recorded evidence that the duo is working together, according to the researchers.

They studied the mammals using drones and camera tags to understand feeding behavior.

“Not only did killer whales give direction [themselves] Lead researcher Dr. from Dalhousie University in Canada. “We’re moving towards the dolphins at the surface, but when the dolphins start diving, our tagged killer whales start diving as well,” Sarah Fortune said.
