Video: Pakistan PM Gatecrashes Putin-Erdogan Closed-Door Talks After 40-Minute Wait | World News

An awkward diplomatic moment occurred during an international forum in Turkmenistan to mark the 30th anniversary of the country’s UN-recognized permanent neutrality. Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who was scheduled to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the event, found himself in an unexpected situation after a long delay.
According to a video published by RT India, Sharif accidentally walked into a closed-door meeting between President Putin and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The Pakistani leader reportedly waited in an adjoining room with Foreign Minister Ishak Dar for about 40 minutes before becoming visibly impatient.

Hoping to have at least a short meeting with the Russian President, Sharif entered the venue where Putin and Erdogan were holding bilateral meetings. He is believed to have left after about ten minutes.
The incident, recorded on camera, spread quickly on social media and users described this move as a diplomatic mistake. While one user on X wrote, “Putin does not want to waste his time on beggars,” another commented, “Even Trump did the same to these beggars.”
Another RT India clip showed Sharif sitting next to an empty chair adorned with a Russian flag, growing increasingly frustrated as he and his delegation awaited Putin’s arrival. Their discomfort was clearly visible as the delay continued.
The forum itself emphasized Turkmenistan’s long-standing neutral status, which was unanimously approved by the UN General Assembly on 12 December 1995. The policy commits the Central Asian nation to eschew military alliances, steer clear of conflicts other than self-defense, and generally ban foreign military bases on its territory.
Sharif’s brief and unexpected entry into the Putin-Erdogan meeting was widely seen as a moment of miscalculation and sparked a flurry of comments online. However, the official program continued as planned and focused on Turkmenistan’s unique position as a permanently neutral state.
