Heavy rains lashed Palghar on Monday, July 6, 2026, resulting in one death and hundreds of families had to be evacuated to safety, officials said. As of Monday morning, July 6, 2026, an average rainfall of 132.1 mm was recorded in the region, and cumulative rainfall is estimated to exceed the limit of 350 to 400 mm. Vasai taluka recorded the highest rainfall of 203.0 mm, followed by Wada with 180.6 mm, Palghar with 164.6 mm and Dahanu with 103.1 mm.

“A total of 286 families have been shifted to safe places from hamlets near Zanzroli dam area, including Mandal Pada, Devshet Pada and Dhondal Pada. In other flood-prone areas, additional 195 from Chandrapada-Wakipada in Vasai, 65 from Kaman-Bhendipada-Morigaon, 76 from Arnala and 76 from Arnala 491 citizens were resettled, Collector Indu Rani Jakhar said, “56 from Tembhi.”

Authorities said heavy downpour also damaged infrastructure.
