Tennessee first lady decks governor’s mansion in Christmas splendor

The Tennessee Governor’s Residence is aglow with Christmas sparkle.
Organized by First Lady Maria Lee’s office, volunteers planned and executed the elaborate annual Christmas extravaganza. This year’s theme is “Light of the World” and invites visitors to “see the glory and majesty of Christ.”

Organizers said every detail was designed to “point to the glory of Jesus.” A towering Christmas tree framed by two golden columns casts a warm, shimmering glow throughout the foyer. Nearby, the grand staircase is covered in golden orbs, twinkling stars and rich red bows.
A row of taper candles twinkle in the hallway leading to the governor’s office, leading to an alcove filled with a display of folk string instruments called mountain dulcimers. The Christmas trees in the lower level of Preservation Hall are decorated to represent nonprofit organizations from East, Middle and West Tennessee.

The Tennessee Residence is open to the public for self-guided tours through Sunday, December 14. Tickets are free but must be booked online for security reasons. governor’s website.
The First Lady’s office is soliciting visitors who can bring canned goods, baby items and personal hygiene items to share with nonprofit partners.
