Moffat Beach: 17-year-old girl dead after slipping from cliff at popular Sunshine Coast lookout

A 17-year-old girl has died in Queensland after horrified onlookers watched her slip off the edge of a popular cliff watchtower.
Emergency services were called to the scene at 6.40pm on Saturday after receiving reports that a girl had fallen off a cliff at Moffat Beach.
The teenager reportedly climbed over the security fence at a lookout at the Queens of Colonies Parade on the Sunshine Coast to take photos before the tragic incident occurred.
The teenager is believed to be on guard duty with his family.
It was determined that the girl fell from the edge of the cliff from a height of approximately 30 meters and died at the scene.
It was stated that a woman who tried to help the young people was injured at the scene, and the injuries were minor.
Queensland Police are investigating the incident and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
Ryan Dubyk from Queensland Fire and Rescue told Nine people should stay away from security fencing.
“Please respect the barriers that have been put in place… Just step back,” he said.
