VC Sajjanar Felicitates Ashok and Naman Tiwari for Exposing Gas Cylinder Theft Racket

Hyderabad: City police commissioner VC Sajjanar congratulated the father-son duo of Ashok Tiwari, a trader from Chudi Bazaar, and his 16-year-old son Naman Tiwari for their alertness and courage in exposing a gas cylinder theft racket that was exploiting common citizens. Sajjanar presented them with a certificate of appreciation and a cash reward as a token of appreciation.
Ashok Tiwari had booked a gas cylinder on April 21. When it was delivered, Naman Tiwari noticed that the tube was lighter than normal and informed his father.
Upon examination, it was seen that the cylinder, which should have weighed 30.4 kg, weighed only 28 kg. Sajjanar said they interrogated representatives of the delivery agency Siddhartha Enterprises, suspecting foul play as the gas in their home had recently run out rapidly.
When agency personnel responded rudely, the father and son decided to investigate further and discovered that agency workers were illegally filling gas from household cylinders into smaller cylinders and commercial units at a residence in Jummerat Bazaar.
Realizing that this poses a great danger to public security, Sajjanar said that they filed a complaint at Goshamahal police station. The police registered a case against the management of Siddhartha Enterprises and arrested five people: Sai Kumar, Vineeth Kumar, Pusa Ganesh, Praveen Kumar and Amit Kumar. Police seized two commercial LPG cylinders, seven household cylinders, 12 small cylinders and refilling equipment.
Applauding the Tiwaris, Sajjanar said: “They acted like ‘cops without uniform’ by bravely questioning the irregularities in the system. They are role models for all. It is unacceptable for racketeers to steal hard-earned money from the public by playing with their lives through dangerous recharge practices. When citizens remain vigilant, criminals will have no place to hide and the police department will always stand by such responsible people.”
Sajjanar praised them as examples of civic consciousness and stated that a crime-free society can only be built if every citizen reacts so carefully to illegal activities.
He called on consumers to be proactive, control the quality and quantity of the goods they buy, and transform from “passive consumers into active savers”. He warned that the police were keeping a strict check on illegal gas filling and would take strict action against the culprits.
