Sarod recital by Pt. Sarothy mesmerises Mangaluru audience

As the bright winter sun illuminated the stage on Sunday morning, December 14, 2025, Pandit Partho Sarothy mesmerized the audience in Mangaluru with his magnificent sarod recital.

Pt. Sarothy’s performance was a part of the Baithak music program of Swaraanand Pratishthan held at University College Ravindra Kalabhavan.

Pt. Sarothy started with compositions on the meditative morning raag, Bairagi. The hour-long episode, in the pentatonic scale (five notes per octant), took the audience into a meditative state. The master artist’s effortless transition between high and low octane tones was greatly appreciated by the audience. Ashis Paul’s jhaptaal hits on the tabla completed Pt. Great presentation by Sarothy.

After a 15 minute break, Mon. Sarothy continued the concert and presented compositions by Ahir Bhairav, another morning raag, for about an hour.

Appreciating the audience’s participation in the concert, Pt. Sarothy said he experienced a special energy. “It was a nice experience. It’s hard for me to express my happiness. I would like to come and perform here again.” Sarothy expressed the admiration of the music lovers gathered at the venue.

Saturday evening, December 13th, Mon. Sarothy had presented evening raags in his nearly three-hour concert at the same venue.
